The question that has been stirring nearly all business owners has been how to top the rankings on Google search engine results pages (SERPs). Has this been on your mind too?
Though Google doesn't precisely show its cards for the algorithm behind rankings, there are still methods for creating effective strategies for breaking down the walls. Let’s have a peek into some influential SEO trends.
Domain Name Effects
While exact match domains (EMD) were the quickest remedy for websites with mediocre content back in 2012, there’s no longer the case. Google has hit back hard on business owners who have been spamming exact match domains but providing low-quality content to users which doesn't deserve the rank at all.
That being said, your domain name should resonate with the brand or, at the very least, the products or services being offered. This will make it easier for others to find your content, mediocre or not.
Metadata Reigns Over Google's Heart
Metadata has become a necessity for a website’s rankings. Because of metadata, businesses are able to introduce relevant keywords to help drive traffic. For instance, if your company manufactures shoes in Chicago, pertinent keywords could include “shoes”, manufacturing, and “Chicago”. This is a fundamental step in search engine optimization.
However, Google knows if you’re using too many keywords or simply trying to spam your metadata, which produces the adverse effect of being penalized. If your websites current tags aren’t up-to-date with Google's latest trends and metrics, you're losing the scope of winning over Google's love, along with the strong ranking that comes with it.
Stimulating the Geotags
For those unaware of how your geographical location affects your brand presence, mind this statistic: A 30% increase in rankings has been observed with the implementation of schemas.
Implementation of microdata has emerged as a blessing to business owners and has resulting in higher click-through rates, lower bounce rates, and enhanced brand presence.
Summary
By keeping in mind these points, you’ll avoid common pitfalls:
EMDs don’t entitle your website to a high ranking, but unique, keyword rich content does.
Optimizing metadata will ensure your keywords are doing the most for your SEO.
Implementing schema will boost your local rankings.
