Rizzo Young Marketing Founder Appointed Chair of Des Plaines Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Committee

DES PLAINES, Illinois (March 1, 2021) — The Des Plaines Chamber of Commerce & Industry Foundation awards an annual scholarship of $2,000 to three graduating high school students whose parents or guardians work at one of the Chamber’s more than 600 member businesses. The money can be used for a university, community college, or trade school. The DPCC is currently accepting scholarship submissions until the March 25th deadline.

This year, the Des Plaines Chamber of Commerce & Industry has selected Richard “Rick” Young to lead its scholarship committee. Young, 28, is the founder of Rizzo Young Marketing, a digital marketing and advertising agency serving the Chicagoland community, which he runs with his wife and business partner, Maria Rizzo. He joined the Chamber one year after launching his business in 2018 and was appointed to the Des Plaines Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors in 2020.

Rick Young and the scholarship committee’s seven other members that are currently serving on the Chamber’s 2021 Board of Directors will meet to pick the award winners. “Even after a year of unprecedented challenges for many of our member businesses, we all agreed to continue funding this scholarship,” said Young. “Investing in future leaders is the most important investment we can make.”  Since its inception in 1989, the foundation has awarded a total of $192,000 in scholarships.

The Des Plaines Chamber of Commerce & Industry Foundation is led by the Chamber’s Executive Director Andrea Biwer. “We are extremely proud to be able to continue the 32-year tradition of giving these scholarships. Our generous members contribute funds to our foundation each year so we can help local graduating high school seniors go on to a trade or four-year school to continue their education in hope that they will become future business leaders in our community,” said Biwer. “It’s been great working with our Chairman, Rick Young and we are looking forward to getting many more applicants through his fabulous marketing efforts.”
