LinkedIn Events
Since 2002, LinkedIn has been the go-to social media platform for the business-savvy crowd. Widely embraced as “professional Facebook”, LinkedIn sees 303 million active users in any given month, placing it among the most popular social media platforms as we round out 2019.
But that doesn’t mean they’ve gotten lazy. If anything, LinkedIn continues to seek out novel paths of innovation, the latest of which arriving in the form of its brand-new Events tool.
LinkedIn puts up a great effort when it comes to competing with the other major social media players. As of October 2019, LinkedIn introduced another game-changer for their platform: LinkedIn Events.
This new tool enables members to facilitate and organize events through their profile much to the serial networker’s delight. While quietly introduced, LinkedIn Events can pave the way for businesses to advertise open houses, sales, networking meetups, and even seminars.
Located on the Home page, creating an event takes mere seconds. Simply fill out the brief form, and your event is live!
While Facebook events can be helpful for businesses, the professional environment of LinkedIn makes it a better choice for colleagues. The feature even allows event creators to sort by industry.
One major downside, however, is that you’ll still need external ticketing software, such as Eventbrite. This failure to include that sub-feature makes it redundant in any case where users actually have to pay.
But given the youth of LinkedIn Events, there’s still plenty of time (and opportunity) ahead for LinkedIn. Down the road, it’s quite possible that events will be added as an advertising capability, allowing users to market their events beyond their initial network.
Regardless of the use case, LinkedIn Events represent a strong opportunity for others to learn about your business in real-time. In addition, LinkedIn’s algorithmically timed notifications ensure that your attendees will be reminded in an optimal manner.
